8 ways that we're making ourselves sick by perfectionism

Perfectionism is usually seen as a positive trait that increases your chances of success, but it can cause self-defeating thoughts or behaviors that make it harder to realize goals. it's going to also cause stress, anxiety, depression, and other psychological state issues. those that strive for perfection out of feelings of inadequacy or failure may find it helpful to talk with a therapist; this may often help people manage excessive self-criticism.

WHAT IS PERFECTIONISM?

Perfectionism is also described as the desire to be or appear to be perfect, or even to assume that perfection can be accomplished. It is normally regarded as a positive attribute rather than a defect. To characterize or explain perfectionistic actions, people can use the term "healthy perfectionism."

Brené Brown, writer and professor of science at the College of Social Work of the University of Houston, distinguishes between perfectionism and healthy behavior. She says, "Perfectionism is not the same thing as striving to be your best. Perfection is not about healthy achievement and growth." She's explaining that perfectionism is seen as a defense from suffering, judgment and guilt or shame by many.

Perfectionism is characterized by setting excessively high performance standards and a refusal to accept any standard short of perfection. While perfectionism is usually developed in childhood, it can be the result of a seemingly inherent personality trait, peer factors, parental expectations, or teacher attitudes.
